New Tokay Geckos

for my husbands 28th birthday i bought him 2 Tokay Geckos. Needless to say, i'm SCARED of these things lol. i'm not kidding though...i leave the room and shut the door when it's tank cleaning time. For those who have no idea what these things are Tokay's are known as the Pitt Bull of Lizards. Agressive and just down right mean describes them to a tee. They are beautiful though. i'll give 'em that much!!

no i don't have pictures of our 2 horrors but once i can get the ones i have on photobucket i'll post them. but if you're interested in them, please feel free to ask questions and do your research!! if anyone knows anything useful about them please post! i'm always open to new info!!

COngrats! I have already talked the wifey into letting me build a "pet room" where I can get just about whatever I want. There are a couple conditions though...first she wants a baby. I think I can stop there because once that happens I can forget about having the time or energy for a pet room. hahaha

Once the kid(s) grow up and go to college Ill get that room built. And when I do, I definitely want some tokays!

tokays arent nearly as mean and aggressive as people say. theyre more of a defensive lizard, and they have the bite to back up the bark, but often times they will just display to warn you off if youre buggin em. i have two and i love em, theyre awesome. if you can get them out of the tank they usually calm down. theres always exceptions tho, and the few down right mean and nasty ones give the rest a bad rep.

actually it's not that bad having kids. we have 4 between the 2 of us ages 5months 3yrs 4yrs and 5yrs. we're getting into breeding so we're building up our stock, but it's truly not hard having babies with lots of reptiles.

that is truly amazing to see you holding one so calm!!! i'm impressed!!!! i have to show my husband that pic...i can't say that i'm too found of them. they are very pretty and i love watching them, but i don't think i could ever hold them. period. we might be having babies soon...i'll be sure to update that when it happens.

They are gorgeous but most are wild caught thus why they are mean. If they are CB they are sure to be a smidge nicer.
