I'm a beardie newbie... well, almost! Hello all! This weekend I'm going to meet a 3 year old adult male that's looking for a new home and if all goes well, which I'm sure it will, I'll be a new mom! He's going to come with a 65 gallon and full set up. I've not had a dragon before although I've had just about every other kind of pet and still have a bunch actually! Anyway, I've been practically glued to my computer absorbing as much info I can on these amazing creatures. There is one thing I'm still stumped on though. The current owner told me that he's off crickets and has been for a while but but eats meal/silk/butter worms and loves his greens and veggies. My question is this.... is it normal for a BD to no longer want to eat what is normally a staple in his diet? I was told that the temp. in his tank was great and he's a happy, healthy guy. Sorry for going on here but I'm soooooo excited!!! Any thoughts are appreciated! :D

They often go off crickets, which is not the only staple for them. Silkworms are great for a staple, very nutritious and healthy. Mealworms, on the other hand, are not, they have high fat and a hard shell to digest. Superworms would be better for him, if he is longer than 15-16 inches.
So here are some types of worms that would be good for him:
Silkworms :headbang: , hornworms, superworms, phoenix worms, butterworms.
Also, roaches if you can get them or locusts.

Welcome to the forum

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
