Just wanted to say hi, I'm Mandy. Over the past year had stumbled on this site more than a few times researching and seems to be a good knowledgable group of regulars here
A little background, my hubby and I both kept reptiles as kids/teens. When my son developed an interest in bearded dragons we both ended up hooked as adults lol. Were animals lovers anyways but for whatever reason beardies just sucked us in from the beginning.
Flash forward a few years and I think weve done a fairly good job at educating ourselves and when I say ourselves I mean it. Its astounding how much bad and misinformation there is floating around out there!! Were still learning and always researching or checking out new opinions and advice (which I guess is what led me here)!
We have two adult beardies, Khaos, a citrus and Zilla a citrus leatherback. As well recently we've aquired a few sub adults and baby rescues from a few sources. I'll get into those more after and get some pics posted!
Kind of tied into the above weve been researching and planning the past year a plan to breed. Before everyone goes here we go lol... not a venture were taking lightly. We're firm believers in doing things right and when we do take the final step our focus is going to be on health and qaulity. Locally most reptiles shops and hobbyists are buying poorly bred (and heavily interbred) beardies... and not even because they intend too but there's just not a lot here and even less people who know what thier doing, most seem to be teenagers or hobbyists out to make a quick buck even though I doubt thats happening!! I know weve gone over costs and time etc and dont expect to make much if anuthing at all for quite some time. And were still planning and researching over a year later. We both agree if we do proceed we'd love to bring in fresh bloodlines and high qaulity beardies with lineage information... which is another thing NOONE here seems to know or care about (more craziness) and focus on just doing a few well planned and well spaced select breedings. Not only because of the expenses starting up and all the other things but because we really want to take our time and really ensure were doing this right.
Fortunantly we have the space and financial ability to do it and well we know a lot are gaining more and more knowledge. I guess were hoping here to connect with people who can help and share even more as well as provide some knowledgable input as we move along, and of course share any experiences and advice they can with us as well
Anyways that was a lot longer than I planned lol. I'll get some pics of our guys up here shortly for everyone!
