New to the Beardie World

Hey, my name's Tanya and my b/f and I recently purchased a 8 week standard beardie from a local breeder. No special color morph or anything - but exceedingly cute - because we heard they were pretty tough to care for as babies and may die. So we got him for a low price so that if he did die, we wouldn't have spent hundreds on something else. This is clearly not to say that he is worth less than a pricey color morph, but we didn't want to jump the gun and spend tons on something we were just starting. Anyway, so he's in a little 20 gal for the next month about until we plan and build a new terrarium. Some of the ideas on the DIY page are fabulous! So far he's being doing pretty well. We were a bit concerned about him pooping, but lo and behold he went yesterday and today finally (after a two to three day wait). And he's working up on his cricket count each day and veggies are finally starting to go in the belly and not on the floor. LoL

Anyways, I've been reading for the past few days and love this board, it's always filled with great info to care for my baby! His name is pending, we named him Niko, but we're thinking about changing it. Not sure on gender, still struggling with determining gender on our own. The breeder thought it was a female, but upon my inspection and looking at what everyone says online, I think there's a good chance it's a male. So I guess we'll wait and find out.
