Hi there. I am new here.

I have been keeping reptiles, including beardies, for many years. I recently got a dragon (the first in ten years) from Carolina Classic Dragons! The are highly recommended. Anyway, I have had the dragon about two weeks. I just moved him from a small see through tote into his enclosure, which I got from Boa Master Cages. Also great as you guys already know. I have his hot spot at a little over 100 degrees and the other end is at around 87 degrees. The problem is that I have been using a reptiglo 10.0 from Exo Terra. I know the reviews about these lights and have already ordered a retisun online (I used to use them specifically, but could not find one around here). My dragon, since yesterday, has been refusing crickets (he/she gobbles at least 15 in a sitting) and is beginning to close one eye constantly. Could it be from the light?? He had that on him before. It is next to the heat lamp which has a bright white household bulb in it. The bulb is probably around 9 inches from the closest perch. Any advice. He does not look him/herself. His underside has those circle type blotches and if I remember correctly, this is not always a good sign. My reptisun was ordered from pet mountain yesterday. What do I do in the mean time?

Please help.

Hey there,
If you just moved your pooper to a new larger enclosure, give him time to adjust. It may just be the new diggs.

As Tom stated, if you just moved him, then he may be going through a little relocation stress. However, if he is already closing one eye, then the ReptiGlo bulb might be affecting. If you have a ReptiSun on order, then it should be OK to turn the UVB off for a couple of days until the new one arrives. No UVB is better than bad UVB.

Thank you for the input. The relocation stress is something I pondered as well, but the reptiglo kind of worries me. Also, one other concern.... right now I have my beardie's enclosure in the garage. I do not keep vehicles in there and the temps are fine. Could you see any problems occuring with this placement??? The Dragon has been "banished" to the garage for the time being :?

THANKS!

I would have thought the same, but I used to have my panther chameleon in the garage and read that this was very bad because of the lack of air flow. I was just checking. thanks again.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
