New to Bearded Dragons!

Hi All,

I have been reading the board here recently doing research for my first bearded dragon experience!

Just thought I would introduce myself, and Fafner, the newest member of our little clan. We have him in a 40"x18"x18" terrarium with all the necessary heating/lighting equipment, and he is basking on his log as I am posting this!

He is getting used to his new living space, and he seems to like it so far. He is very active, and LOVES to eat his crickets!

Sorry for the poor quality picture. I am looking forward to learning all about him and bearded dragons in general!

Welcome to the board! Beardies are an adventure. You can pretty much find the answer to any dilemma you have here. If nobody knows the answer, we won't bs you. We'll send you to the vet. :)

Thanks for the nice responses!

Fafner ate 12 crickets yesterday, but when I tried to feed him this morning he didn't really show much interest. Is it normal for beardies to pass up on food from time to time? Just making sure I am doing everything appropriately. Also he hasn't touched any of his collard greens (but I read that that is pretty normal). Let me know if there is anything I can do to help out his feeding habits.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Yes this is pretty normal. If Zeus isn't hungry the crickets will even crawl on him. He doesn't seem to mind until he gets a little hungry!

No luck on the evening feed either. I'm going to let him relax and try again in the morning. Are there particular times of day that beardies are actively ready for feeding? Or just whenever? I was gone to work for the day, and as far as I can tell he didn't touch any of the veggies either.

I gave him his first bath with warm water around lunch, and he seemed to like it. That's the first time I have actually seen him drink water too!

Just want to make sure he is eating like he should, so anymore helpful hints are greatly appreciated!

Cute baby :) I look forward to seeing how he changes! I think that's the fun part on here is seeing how they change overtime. Beardies are so cool that way. Sounds like your little guy is spoiled already.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
