He was actually able to chase his crickets around!

As we were leaving the store with it, we were told we'll need to get him a little heat pad of sorts, to make sure he is properly warm, especially at night.
Now, I know I don't want to get him anything that he sits directly on, because that could burn him. Does any one have any recommendations for reliable pads that are affordable? Are there kinds that can go under the carpet?

There are heat pads that go under the tank. Some dragons like them but you'll want a thermostat or other failsafe to protect against them overheating/failing. I prefer to provide heat from above using a ceramic heat emitter or megaray heat projector. If the temps don't drop below 65 in the tank overnight I don't use them though. I use one seasonally in the winter when my house often goes down into the 50s overnight.

ok. I was thank of getting one that can go on the tank wall, on the outside, to bring the temperature in his basking spt up higher, seeing as it's the same one as before, but further away from him.
I usually wrap him in a wee blankie at night. (which he loves, and walks right out of it in the morning and sits on it).
I order a "flukers" mat that lots of people liked on amazon, an that people said was good for beardies. I'll try it, mess around with it, see how I and Hiu like it.

I do also have a CHE, but again, same wattage, and further away from him in the new, taller tank.

I would stick with the CHE at night, these guys are used to cool temps during the night time of about 65 degrees or so. If your house drops to lower I would add some additional heat. They do not sense heat from below which is why most will steer you away from any under tank heaters. It is dangerous and recommended to get their light from above. The blankets is always good, we all use them here and there.

Ok. I'll see how it is (and get a new, WORKING, thermometer). I might use it just for winter time. I plan on having it on the outside wall of his tank, on the corner where his basking spot is, that it doesn't heat up the whole tank too much.
But thank you!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
