Hello everyone,

I want to first thank everyone for all of the information you all have provided. I am a teacher and I have been considering getting a bearded dragon for my classroom for a while and you all did wonders to get me ready to bring "Elliott" home. I have to put his name in quotes because I haven't checked the sex yet and I have 400 students all asking to name him.

Back to my question, I have a pan of bean plants grown from pinto beans for a lab a few weeks ago. Would the leaves of the bean plans be something to feed a beardie? He likes the turnip greens I gave him and gobbled up the squash, but the school garden I had planned is behind schedule and the beans are taking over; I would love for him to help. My major concern is the roughness of the leaf fibers of a bean leaf. Does anyone have some advice?

Thank you all, again.

Lisa

As far as I know, bean leaves should be fine. Squash and turnip greens are great staples but if you want to throw in some bean sprout leaves I don't see the harm.

According to Beautiful Dragons' Nutrition Content information, beans of all types are safe to feed, but they didn't list anything specific about their leaves. I would have to assume that the leaves from the plants are safe to feed.

Green - Feed daily, staple

Thank you! Things have been going well with the little guy. The students LOVE him and he is warming up to the new environment well. I really appreciate all of the advice and tips you all have offered. I feel like a neurotic new parent who is becoming a hypochondriac on behalf of the little guy most of the time, but he really is doing well and you all always seem to have an answer to help. Thank you!

Unfortunately, that feeling never goes away. ;)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
