As said in the title I am a new beardie owner, well first one that is. I have had my Gizmo for some 2-3months now. He is perfectly fine I think. He has a 40 gallon tank, with a carpet and food/worms/water on the left. On the right he has a stick, which he loves, and a rock which he goes into at night. For the heating, this is where I am confused. The bearded dragon guy at my pet store said a UVB coil and Heat lamp is all I need so I got that and have it in a two in one lamp thingy. I have a thermometer/humidity guage, which I heard was bad, it reads 100 and 50%. I really want to know if this heating arrangement is good, and that Gizmo is healthy I will reply with pictures asap. (CANT FIGURE OUT SCREENSHOTS IM NEW). Also Gizmo likes to rub his head against his log what does that mean?

Hello and Welcome to BD.org!

First of all, Get rid of the coil UVB. They are useless and can sometimes hurt your dragons eyes. Your much better off with a Reptisun 10.0 T5 Tube bulb. and In My opinion, I would not listen to anything the pet store says, As they normally don't know how to give out PROPER info on keeping reptiles,

From how your describing his setup+temps+humidity They seem fine. Him rubbing his head against the log normally means he is getting ready to shed. It is perfectly normal for them to do that when readying for a shed.

You can post pics using this https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ Once you have uploaded a picture, Then hit the 'XIMG' button and your pics should show up. Could you post some pics of him and his setup? How much does he weigh? How long is he? and What do you feed him?

I Love his name! :D I have a crested gecko named gizmo.

Thanks for the info, I am in quite a budget atm and cannot afford those horizontal things. In the mean time until I save up for that, will he be fine for now? Also how do I set one of those up? And check out my pictures. Also Gizmo is a great name. Not sure about weight, feed him 15 medium crickets a day (does it matter if they are dead?) also calcium covered, and he is 11 and a half inches long. And what methods can I use to get him to drink from his bowl?

Yes, I do. And do you know what it means if he sticks his leg out like that, he does it guite often actually. And he likes to go under his rock really early does that mean anything?

The Leg sticking out is called a "sexy leg" it is basically them stretching out and relaxing. Perfectly normal.

Yes he will be fine for now, Just try to get the tube bulb ASAP.

Your supposed to set the UVB fixture up UNDER the screen. As most screens will filter out 50% of the UVB. I Rigged my UVB fixture under the screen using pipe cleaners. They are just suspended under the Bulb and then I tied them up Through some of the screen holes. View media item 60861 As you can see here, It is under the screen lid. The only problem was that my crazy Daisy thought that that was a New climbing thing and tried jumping on it. (That picture was taken before I switched the paper towels out with tile).

Yea besides the enclosure my beardie has never sipped on water. Even in the bath (I give him these daily) he doesn't drink. And he does eat medium calcium covered crickets (15 a day). He is 11 inches long and I do not know about the weight.

You can use a regular shipping scale and put him on it to determine the weight. and I Got my beardies to drink by using the "finger flicking technique" Here's a link on how to do it http://sarahsbeardeddragonrescue.blogspot.com/2016/11/morning-drinks.html

Everything sounds good. Your taking good care of him. :)

It took my Cisco three months to get to drink. :banghead: So it takes TIME.
