New Owner - Neck color change

I am a new owner of a Bearded Dragon, Freddy Fred, and have tried to be deligent in my search on this site about neck color change...I put a "log" back in his cage this afternoon and left for a couple of hours. When I returned home his neck was very black - not puffed - just black. Normally his neck is white/cream color. Is this something I should be worried about?

And was it a dark beard or a jet black beard?

Sorry to hear Freddy Fred is worrying you. If you would like to go over your set up with us, we can rule out any problems with your husbandry.

How old is your beardie?
What Type and Brand of UVB are you using? fluorescent tube, coil, compact, mvb?
What type basking bulb are you using?
How close can your beardie get to basking light and UVB light?
What are you measuring your temps with? digital thermometer, stick on or temp gun?
What are the temps on basking and coolside?
What are you feeding your beardie and how often?
Are you using calcium and multivitamins?
Are you bathing(soaking) your beardie and how often?
When was the last time he pooped?
What type of substrate are you using?
When was your beardies last fecal done?

If you could answer these questions, it will help us out.

Freddy is almost 2 years old and his neck was jet black...the color has dimished quite a bit this morning.

Sounds like maybe he didn't like a log being put in his tank so he got mad.

Typically when beardies are stressed or mad their beard and lower chest will become black. :lol:

That's what I would think too, though it definitely couldn't hurt to answer Dawn's questions.
