Just bought my first bearded dragon last night, my terrarium is as follows

20131121_162625.jpg

I have a 100w intense basking spot bulb on the right hand of the cage, with a 100w Infared slightly left of the centre. The basking spot is at 103 degrees, the cool side is 84 degree. Humidity is slightly above 30. Running the Exo Terra Heat Wave substrate heater medium size on the bottom of the terrarium with the exo terra reptile carpet until hes older. For food have the Juvenile bearded dragon pellets and for greens finely chopped Kale, He's still settling and hasn't aten much, but I have attempted twice daily to feed him crickets with reptive vitamin d3. Is there anything else I should do for a young bearded dragon, wanna make sure I'm not missing anything, and any suggestions any of you may have? Tank is 36 by 18 by 18.

I'm really tired, and I might not be looking right, but I can't see any UV lights?

I'm new here as well but beardies need UVB and UVA, alot of people here recommend the repti-sun 10.0.

I wish I could help more, but as I said, I'm quite new as well (and tired haha)

Hope your beardie is doing well! :)

EDIT: When my mum first got her beardie, I told her to make sure you have all the right stuff.

She didn't get a UV light and in a couple weeks they couldn't move their back legs very well. I bought her UV and they're doing great now!

The lights are not right. No red light is recommended. He needs a UVB, either Reptisun 10.0 fluorescent tube, or Arcaidia 12%. What are you using to measure the temps with? If it is a dial (round) thermometer, then those are off by as much as 20*. He does not need a substrate heater, that will just burn his belly. You should stop feeding kale as a staple green as it binds calcium.

I just posted some tips I have loved as a new dragon mommy on another thread in this forum called new to beardies. They were tips about preferences, not safety, butyou can check them out if you want. :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
