To be honest - consider this a GOOD thing. And please, consider the following prior to purchasing anything from him...

Bruce @ Sunshine Dragons is KNOWINGLY selling babies positive for the Adenovirus. (Do a quick search here for the "Adenovirus Alert" thread, posted by Wendy of Neverland Dragons, for a more complete dialouge regarding his breeding practices).

While it stinks royally that he is not refunding your money, I honestly wouldn't put it past him...he's a thief, a liar & a man of little or no morals, IMHO. He has verbally (also in writing) threatened other breeders, vet and people in the herp community in general & made illogical and irrational claims. His reputation has been ruined by his own hands...

If you would like to look for a GOOD breeder, I would recommend Rob & Vicki Dachiu, Matt from Mystical Dragons or Russ from Crossfire dragons (Russ is a member here). I have 2 Dachiu babies & couldn't be happier with them (Caliel & Aeli).

That's too nice of a tank to go to waste...I hope a happy dragon fills it soon!

I agree, maybe it was for the best that it didnt work out. If I were you I would cut my losses and find another breeder. Shorty girl has given you some very good breeders, so Try those. It may suck not to get your money back but with him selling Positive babies it may save you money in the long run w/ vet bills!! There is always a silver lining somewhere!! :wink: Good luck and I really hope you find a Dragon for your tank! It is a nice setup! check out the forsale/free forum, you may get lucky and find a good BD and only have to pay for shipping!

In fact I think Waldo has a new baby and cant keep one of them... try PM'ing him!!

Well the plop is certainly thickening. My last email from him when he told me I would get my money, or some of it, if and when he sells the animal....well got home from work and found an email from UPS telling me I have an overnight delivery arriving from Sunshine Dragon tomorrow morning. Lots of problems here....what to do with her. I have already received (yesterday) a new dragon from Russ at Crossfire so have no place to put her. Obviously just can't let her die...guess I better get down to PetSmart before it closes and at least get a tank and some lights. The guy is obviously crazy...but I can't take it out on the animal.

I'm going to PM you the testing info for Adeno...I have a feeling this guy is dumping a positive dragon on you...this is not a test your local vet can do, it needs to be sent out to the University of Colorado (I believe, I have to pull it from my email).

Do NOT let the dragon from Sunshine come into contact with the girl you got from Russ - Adeno is highly contagious. Keep them strictly seperated, do not exchange cage furniture & make sure to wash your hands VERY well when handling both dragons...

Until you get the test results back, err on the side of caution. If she comes back clean, that's GREAT news, if she comes back positive, she very well possibly could lead a normal life...if she's an older dragon, it would help. Some never make it. But she will need to be quarentined for the rest of her life & never bred.

How did you pay Dale ? If by credit card, you can call your card comp and explain why you cancelled the transaction and they will probably charge him back and refund your money...If you paid by check, I would small claims court it right now...The court costs will eat up a lot of the refund, but it the PRINCIPAL now, right ? And besides that, if he's out of your state he won't show up in court anyway and you'll automatically win the judgement...At least that will put a mark on his credit !

I just got to read this thread now, how is your dragon from Sunshine doing?

As already mentioned, you can't be too careful about cleaning and washing your hands between handling the 2 dragons.

Let us know how everything is going, you must have your hands full with two new babies!

and it just gets worse....here is a copy of an email I sent him this morning (no response yet).

Obviously by now you have realized that you made a serious error as well as several ethical and legal violations. You are extremely fortunate that my wife was home yesterday morning or the dragon would have sat on the front porch in 24 degree temperatures. Shipping an animal when there were known serious storms in the midwest was extremely stupid and unethical (fortunately the documented delay in the UPS tracking was not long enough to cause a problem). Shipping an animal on Thursday is a violation of your own documented policy of only shipping on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. And, of course addressing it to me rather then the correct person was another stupid error that could have resulted in the death of the animal (had someone not been home).

Be that as it may, after a warm bath (and running down to PetSmart to buy another tank and lights) he seems fine. When the UPS representative showed up last night to pick up the animal so it could be sent to it's rightful owner, We had to decline since we had gotten rid of all of the contaminated packing material in yesterday's trash. I advised them to contact you and have new packing sent as well as a pre addressed shipping label. Since this animal is no doubt infected with adenovirus I am taking an extreme risk keeping it in my home. Before he is released to UPS I will need to see a credit on my VISA account for the original $240 plus $80 for the tank and lights, plus a $5 boarding fee beginning yesterday. Assuming you get the shipping container to me by Tuesday that would be a total of $345.00 (add an additional $5 for each day past Tuesday). In case you have again lost the record of my payment, it is your invoice # 111206c).

Good news! Just got an email from him stating that he would refund the amount of my purchase by 12/20...and because he was concerned about stressing the animal by shipping it again (to either him or the rightful owner) I'm just supposed to keep it or give it away.

Hi Dale, please let us know what happens to the sunshine baby. are you going to have it tested? i personally believe if its positive for the virus it should humanely be put down. I personally hate bruce for putting the beardie community at greater risk. you will get yours bruce :twisted: i know you read these forums. your a lowlife. sorry for venting dale. you were the victim here. please, you have the knowledge that there's a high probability that the dragon is a carrier. please do the responsible thing. thanks Jack

Hi All, several of you have PMed me asking about my refund from Sunshine Dragon. After a bit of a struggle he did refund all of my money. He also managed to send a dragon that was to go to someone in southern Arizona to me (surprise!). I tried to get him to take it back or have it sent to the correct person but he refused (no, he did not charge me for the animal) told me to give it away. I had him tested for adenovirus and the results were positive. Still trying to decide what to do with him. And that is definitely enough!!! I'm so sorry about this DrDale...I wish you all the luck in the world with your little one.

Now that brumation and Christmas is over I am having my dragons tested also. I'm just waiting for my female to give me a 'package'. I'm also worried about this because Whiskers is also a Sunshine baby but he was from 2005.....I don't know if that makes a difference!
