new member- first beardie

how are ye? my names steve and i got my first bearded dragon last week. im not too sure how old she is but only a few months i think. having very bad trouble tryin to get her to eat her greens!! and having trouble tryin to handle her she shakes her head everytime i try.

Gratz on the New Baby!
Your little girl may be still going through relocation stress.
Which is normal for beardies whenever there is a change to their invironment.

Babies don't always like to eat their veggie just be persistant and patient with her.
80% of her diet at her age should be protien so it's okay.

What live feeders does she eat?
Or is she not eating any of those for you either?

As for the head shakes I'm not sure what you mean.
Is it like a tremble?

Are you giving her Calcium and Multi-vitamins?
What UVB bulb are you using?

Sorry for all the questions but sometimes the head trembling is a sign of the beginning stages of MBD. In which case you need to make sure she is getting good calcium an using a good UVB bulb. Or if she is real small she might just be scared. :dontknow:

How long is she?
Or maybe you could post a pic of her for us to see. :wink:

am when i put the veg near her she kinda bobs her head and closes her eyes not when i handle her sorry

when i try hndle her or touch her at all she jumps back

guy in the pet shop never mentioned anything about calcium and vitimans?

the bulb is a exoterra repti glo 10.0 uvb bulb

shes about 6 inches long id say

loves standin up against the wall lookin out at me too

Okay it just sounds like she is still settling in getting aquainted with you just be patient.

The best supliments are Rep-cal.
With the tube type bulbs you should use the Calcium w/D3 pink label 5 days a week dusting only one feeding per day. And the Multi-vitamin blue label 2 days a week dusting only one feeding per day.
Until she reaches a year and then you will cut back on the calcium to 3 days per week.

I hate to be the one to have to tell you that the bulb you are using is not a good product.

ill get some of that so is it expensive?

bulb cost me 30 euro

k maybe about 8.5 inches long so

If you can find it online it's not that expensive I'd say 5 to 12 american dollars. In pet stores it is expensive here in California in our area it's around 20 dollars for each.

Maybe you can return the bulb. It really sucks that they sell things for so much money just for us to find out that we shouldn't even use it. :roll:

If you can post some pictures not only would that be cool but we could try to guess how old she is. when beardies are young like yours, they dont eat much greens, maybe not even any. just keep offering greens and someday she'l find out how yummy they are! :lol:
