New home made vivarium

My step dad and I made a vivarium for Kantus out of plywood. We mounted the light fixture in the back and I think that the lights might be heating the wood up and causing it to smell. Do you have any suggestions that might fix this problem and make me feel a little more comfortable about leaving her home alone with her lights on?

Also, I don't keep Kantus in here. She has her old cage with her UVB and thermometer in in. I just put her in here to show you scale size.

Seal it with a good quality sealer. Minwax makes a great clear poly sealer, about 10$ a can its a little expensive but you should only need one. Try to stick with poly.
EDIT: It will dry quick but that does not mean its beardie ready. Let it sit for 4 days or so with good ventilation, preferably outside.
