Hi my name is Jenny from Beaver Falls PA My local petshop got some babies BD they where born on Jun 11 and 12, 2007 I go into the petstore everyday and watch them eat they are little eatting monster the pin heads last about 5 mins. I want to get at least 2 BD I just lttle scared Is because I don't want to get a brother and sister and they might have babies.
I'M not into inbreeding them because the babies can have health problems. Today I got the BD to wave at me today it was so cool everytime i go into the petshop I watch them they all run upto the front of the glass at watch me. When I get my BD when will it be a good time to start picking them up??? right now no one pickes them up unless the house is going to get clean but they are put into another fish tank until there house is clean.

I am not sure what the petstore has told you , if anything, but you can not house 2 togther. It does not matter if they are related or not.

Here is what happens..

2 males fight till the death
1 male 1 female- male could mate the female to death
2 females- mixed reviews on this. They have been known to also fight and bite.

I would start out with one and if you choose to get another make sure you have a seperate enclosure for that one.

They are very addictive. We started with one and now have two and would love to have a few more someday.

If you have any other questions please ask. Most ( not all ) petstores give out bad information. They either do it to make a buck or because they are not educated themselves.

Hello and welcome to the site

I agree that you should only get one dragon to start with. Babies can be very expensive to raise (they're little pigs who can go through upwards of 60-100 bugs a day at some points) and you'll need a complete set up for each dragon since they generally don't do well housed together.

Make sure you do your research and have everything set up before you bring the little guy home - it'll make both of your lives much easier.

hi! i live in moon, pa... i have found that our pet stores also have a lot of bad info, but this site is great. a beardie is a great pet, but there's a lot more to keeping one healthy than some people think. i would definitely take the majority advice on this site over the pet store. it's nice to know there is a beardie lover close by!
