HI there, we have just gotten our new friend on Sunday and boy is he a lot of fun so far. My son named him Flippy, he was doing tricks in his box on the way home. I do have questions such as, the pet store who sold them too me didn't say anything about lighting and have UVB/UVA lighting , right now we have a heat light, so I'm assuming I need to get a UVB/UVA light to help with the growth of bones? Also i got some calcuium dust with vitamin b so do we still need the light? any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for any information you can give us on our baby![/img]

Congrats on your new baby!!

yes, you definately need a good UVB light.

while in theory the vitamin D3 in the calcium powder should help, its impossible to calculate a proper dose. overdosing is as bad as underdosing, the good UVB light will allow him to create teh right amount.

plenty of dragons that have been given teh calcium with D3 and not been given teh right lights have ended up with MBD.

good lights to get are repti glo 8.0 and repti sun 10.0 as f;ouirescent tubes.

apparently the coils lose their high UV output after a month or so.

otherwise MVB's are apparently teh best. my girls do fine with the repti glo 8.0 and i also get them into teh sun when i can.

dont buy ESU lights, tehyre totally pointless and a complete waste of money.

temps in teh basking side should be between 100-110, with a cool side being about 80.

use a digital probe therm to measure them, other therms can be up to 20 degrees out,...
