Hello all! I just finished setting up a temperary enclosure for my boyfriend's new beared dragon. BF works at a pet store and this beardy was recently seperated from the others. Apparently no one thought he would make it through the night - he did and so he went to the vet the next day. The comments on the sheet from the vet says "Possible sepsis and neck injury. Dehydration." He's on Baytril right now. The thing of it is, even if he recovers, the store won't sell him. So, they decided to offer him for adoption to any employee that would take him. Otherwise, they were going to euthanize him. My BF is madly in love with the dragons so he jumped at the offer. So, now we have a little dragon.

We bought the basics yesterday and today and brought him home today. He needs his medication and bath later. I was told for his dehydration to soak him for 15 minutes in lukewarm water, twice a day. I don't know his exact inches, I'd say he's about the size of a crayon (excluding his tail. with tail, the length of a pencil maybe?) We don't know if he'll make it, but we have our fingers crossed. Neither of us have ever had a dragon but we didn't want him put down if he could be saved. Sooooo here's hoping he makes it! He's eating on his own again today, so at least that's something good.

thanks for the welcoming! well we haven't name the little beardie yet, but we've both fallen in love with him. "officially" we're fostering him, but i'm sure we'll end up keeping the little fella. he's just too cool. very friendly, super cute. the whole bit that all you beardie lovers already know! i measured him tonight, he is about 6 inches long.

Aww poor lil guy. I'm sure now that he has a good home and is away from his mean siblings he'll get better :)

It seems like he's doing better already. He took his medication wel today and doesn't seems so listless. It was fun watching him catch crickets and actually moving around. Tonight when I gave beardie (still haven't named him yet) his bath, he seemed to enjoy it and walked around the water and even drank some. It's a little scary holding him because he's so teeny tiny that I am afraid I'll break him, or that he'll jump and get hurt. I'm sure I'll get used to that tho, and he won't stay so small forever.

It seems as though most beardies are very heardy and recover well as long as they have proper husbandry, it's when the husbandry is wrong that they seem so fragile.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
