Hi everyone. I just got two new beardies !! But i am alittle concerened. I have read a few things about housing and is it not ok to raise two beardied together? Also one is great.... really active and eating and the other is kind of scared isnt eatting and staying to him or her self.

We ahve only had them Two days so far. We have a 40 gallon tank.We have a basking spot at 100 degrees and a cold spot at 85 degrees. And advise would be greatly appreciated..

Well before anyone answers to my post above. I went ahead and took one of the Beardies back to where I got him. I dont want to take any chances of one killing the other..

Welcome to the site! :wave: Sorry to hear about one of your beardies. Your temps sound fine, I'm just wondering, what do you use to take your temps with and what substrate do you use?

I have carpet down right now till he gets a bit bigger.I have three high range thermometers.
Two on the basking side of the tank, one at the bottom and one about an inch from the top.Then another on the cooler side of the tank near the bottom.

Are the thermometers analog or stick on? If not, you should get a temp gun or a digital therm. w/probe to measure your temps. Plastic thermometers made by most pet store brands are usually inaccurate, and can be up to 20 degrees off! What substrate are you switching your BD to when it's older because the carpet is fine for his entire life.

where can I get a probe thermometer?

You can get one at Walmart in the outdoors section or from baskinglizards.com. It is from Accurite. Put the probe on the basking spot and the other part on the cool side. It will take basking temp, cool side temp, and humidity level. They are cheaper at Walmart but I ordered mine off basking lizards.
