We got Stewie a week and a half ago and it has been a roller coaster ride. The first couple of days he was great. Active, eating, pooping, alert, and seemed to like us. Then he stopped eating except crickets and stopped pooping and hissed at us and seemed skiddish but mostly slept all the time. He finally pooped a huge pile and was like a new man. Active, eating, even veggies for the first time, drinking, not so afraid of us. However, he has not pooped again now for several days.

Then yesterday he started shedding, was still active and healthy acting until late this afternoon. We found him laying there limp under his piece of wood, not like when he normally sleeps. I thought he was dead at first. But he moved a tiny bit and then later he had moved over a little.

We got him from petco. He is 9 1/2 inches long. He has been eating small/medium crickets, dandelion greens, yellow zuchini, carrots, green beans. I tried some fruits but he has not eaten any yet.

His warm side is 100-110 and cool side I think about 85. He is currently getting 13-14 hours with his uv and heat lamp on. The uv is a coil light which I just read on here tonight is not good, it came with the kit, I will get the other kind tom. He has the reptile carpet on the tank bottom.

I was reading about brumation, but it sounds like he is too young for that and this happened so suddenly, brumation sounds more gradual.

Well this little guy certainly is a roller coaster ride. I thought we might wake up to something bad this morning, but he had pooped and was back to normal, after lying there on the floor all floppy and limp last night. It seems he poops every 4 days or so and acts all sick right before hand.

how big are the crickets that you are feeding him if they are bigger than the space between his eyes he could be getting slightly impacted. try not to give him to many carrots here is a great website of what you can feed him http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Nutrition.html try to get the reptisun 10 tube bulb as soon as possible i order mine online its usually cheaper http://www.petmountain.com/?afsrc=1 if you can get it within the next week just turn the coil off

Petco tells you it's ok to feed the medium or large crickets, and it is not.. It sounds like he is having trouble digesting the crickets. you can also try reptiworms

www.reptiworms.com and put facebook20 in there for 20% discount.

and definately get the reptisun 10.0 UVB light, and come here for advice, don't listen to Petco. I got a baby from there and not one thing they said was correct.

Hello,

What type of thermometer do you use to measure the temperatures? A stick on type, a digital probe or a temp gun?
He may be having some trouble digesting his food. The crickets should not be any larger than the space between his eyes to avoid impactions.
How big is he?

What about bathing him? They need to be bathed regularly; they get hydration that way through their skin and their vent (their poop shoot). I've heard every other day or every day, I'm not really sure which is best. We bath ours daily for just about 10 minutes and she is used to pooping in her bath, which is a great advantage. It makes keeping the cage clean ALOT easier.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
