Hi! I'm new here, just got my first beardie at the end of last summer. He was a rescue 
I've been doing reptile rescue for about 6 years and had to get out of it for a little while due to a few changes. However, I had gotten a call about a beardie that needed some help. Since I had gotten things turned around again and was in a position that I could help I agreed to go get him (with the hubby's ok of course). I made an hour drive to go pick up the little guy only to find out...there was 2! They had 2 male beardies in a 12x12 enclosure One male was 18" the other 14". She had told me that they occassionally 'try to mate' and then will 'fight' but are mostly fine...really?! So even though I only planned on one...I had to take both. They were severly dehydrated and had been getting fed stricktly crickets 3x a week (and occassionally dusted them w/ a calcium supplement that expired in early 2009) so they were also malnourished and VERY skinny! The crickets were being fed some green jelly something...and the pour lizards had the green watery stool and their bodies were stained from running around in it. So I hit the internet! Gave them baths, seperated them, got them eating crickets, meal worms, wax worms and mixed salads. Gave them frequent soaks and made sure to spray their salads. They did a complete 180...though it took some time!
My daughter fell in love with them and named them Fred and Monkey (guess that's what happens when you let a 3 year old name pets lol) The plan was to get them healthy enough to find homes so I could make room for more reptiles in need...however, we couldn't part with both of them. Fred found a new home, and we held on to Monkey because he still needed some work, he is now in great health and looking to be a permanent addition And my hubby and I have talked about adding some more to the family
