Hey everyone, new here, recently due to space issues, my mom won't let me get my dream dog, so i have been looking into reptiles and other smaller alternatives. I noticed bearded dragons, and stumbled upon this site the other day. Since pretty much all this week I have been reading as much as possible about care for Bearded dragons, and plan on somehow finding one in the next month. Hopefully I will be getting a younger Beardie, so here are a few questions.

I live in the southern part of Delaware, and was wondering if there were any people here from around Kent or Sussex county, that could recommend a good Vet, and even maybe a breeder by some odd chance. Reason I ask is because there is only one vet near me, that I have yet to ask about treating reptiles, and I dont really have many pet stores except one about 20 minutes away, that apparantly sells exotic pets. Also, where would be a good place to order mass amounts of crickets, since young beardies apparantly require insane amounts of crickets at a young age. Also take note that I'm a highschool student working a part-time job, so money is slightly scarce, but im willing to do anything right now for a pet. :p

Thanks for any help you can give me,
Tom.

Welcome Tom,

The only reptile store in your area I would recommend is "Koi Kountry" in Harrington DE... I work in Bridgeville, but unfortuantely I will not have any babies available until after the new year. So I would check them out first to see if they have anything available, but try to talk them down in price as they mark up their dragons a lot. Don't pay over $120 for any of their dragons unless it's extremely colorful! But they do have a nice selection of both lizards and snakes, and they take good care of their animals from what I've seen. I would ask them who they recommend for a vet as I only work in Delaware but I live in Maryland...

Hope this helps, and take care!

Thank you, it helps alot. If it comes down to it, I may be waiting til new year, saving up money for a decent dragon.. but life span is usually determined by how well you care for the individual and not the quality of the breed correct? Because at this point, I dont really need a bright colorful beardie, I just want a new friend :p

You've chosen a good pet in beardies. I will warn you, however, that beardies are adictive. The crawl their way into your heart and become like lays potato chips, no one can have just one.

Hey everyone, just an update, as of today, I put a deposit down on a Sandfire x gold/red morph at the local exotic pet store, all the way from Sandfire ranch, and hopefully by the end of the week or beginning of next week, will be bringing him home. I'm pretty excited so I'll get my cell phone cam picture up shortly.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
