Hey group,
I just acquired a 3ish year old female dragon from a friend of mine who wanted to give her up. Based on what I've read regarding care and feeding neither was done properly. In the week that I've had her I've fed her a varied diet of mealworms, carrots, celery and Exo-Terra bearded dragon food all of which she'd eaten without any problem or prompting on my part. I also completely cleaned and sanitized her habitat as it was filthy with a lot of old feces littering the play sand which hadn't been changed for over a year. For now I have the aquarium lined with news paper.
I had a concern that she hadn't relieved herself at all the week that I've had her and as I was typing my intro email and scanning various care sheets regarding impaction I had her soaking in a warm bath as suggested. I had tried this 2 other times this week without any results. Ten minutes later there was a HUGE pile sitting in the bottom of the tub and one piece was as big as the tip of my little finger and hard as a rock. Probably compacted sand.
So all seems fine with her now and from here on she should be getting the proper care that she needs. I'm looking forward to scanning the information here to make sure.
