New guy with DIY enclosure plans

Hi Everybody,
My wife and I recently did a nice set-up for our 7 year old son with a leopard gecko. I must admit I have been bit with the reptile bug and have been doing some research on doing a bearded dragon setup. Being a cnc programmer and have access to Pro-E so I modeled up an enclosure. I will be making in the next few weeks, and would love to get some input on what you guys think and if there are some things I may be leaving out.

The Dimensions are 36" long, 24" deep & 24" tall.

Added some holes in door to place a dowel on each side to hold up door.

It's very similar to the Crossfire enclosures. Have you looked at the plans for those? They are a bit bigger at 4x2x2.

I like what you have. If you want to go with that, it would be fine, I would just personally rework the door. They should never open/slide up, even with dowels to support them. That's just asking for an accident, either for the user or the dragon.

Thanks for the input and door suggestion, getting the door part figured out has been the biggest challenge thus far. I took a look at the link for the crossfire design and yes it seems my design is similar and that's a good thing seeing that type is proven.

I made a version of the Crossfire - And I agree - a lifting or sliding UP door is dangerous - or potentially dangerous. Plexi-glass is easy to cut with a table saw and easy to find. The track is nearly impossible to find - but I found something similar made out of aluminum - at Menards.
