I recently moved my 8 month old beardie to a new enclosure. It's a 40 gal setup with a 36" reptisun 10.0 UVB and a heat lamp. I tested temperatures and the basking gets to 100 F, and the ambient side is mid 80s. Since I put her in the new cage, she only stays on the cool side and I rarely see her basking.
I have new decorations / basking platforms in her cage, but I did put the same branch I had in the old cage in the new cage. I noticed she hangs out on this branch A LOT and doesn't really utilize the new space in her 40 gal. I'm wondering if this is because she likes that branch (it seemed to be her favorite spot in the old cage as well) and is unsure about her new enclosure or if there are other reasons as to why she's not really basking much anymore.
For the most part she stays on the branch right up by the UVB and is generally pretty dark. When I feed her she lightens up, basks for about 10 mins and then its back to the same spot on the branch in the cool side.
I'm just worried about her not basking / dont want this to become a health problem. . . any comments / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
