Hey everyone! I'm new here but I am active daily on the chameleon Forums! I had some problems with my beardie but they have been resolved and now I'm getting her out of her old 40 gallon and into a new 5.6 foot long 20 inch deep 30 inch tall custom enclosure! (Extra random pics included!) I have some questions about the uvb, do I need 2 24 inch t5 10.0s or just one?

30 inch tall is tall I would propably get a 14% bulb. T5 12% bulbs are good @12 inches to 15 or so. Depending on how tall you plan on having your decor. I would figure out if you are getting a 12% or a 14% then length. But they make fixtures 35 inches long and 46 inches. Here’s a link to kits bulb included. Here’s 2 links below

Ok I'll see when I get the enclosure with all the decor and floor tiles

If you can get the dragon high enough to the 12% that’s good but they also can hurt themselves jumping off things to high. So I would opt for a 14% if possible you won’t have to make decor so high. However the 14% bulbs are very strong they are made for tanks 2+ feet. So you would want to make sure your decor is not to high (close to bulb) the recommended distance is 18-24 inches from basking spot for 14%

ah ok i think it would be easier to make a basking spot with the 12% I have , do i need two or just one?

A uvb needs to be at least half the tank some would say 2/3 of the tank. But let’s see a 5 1/2 foot enclosure would need just one of you got a 36inch or 46inch

The t8 fixtures are not made for t5 they are slightly different sizes and t8 fixtures are not HO (high output) I would not invest in any kind of uvb fixture if it’s not Zoo med t5 or arcadia. T8 bulbs have to be fixed inside 6-8 inches from dragon very difficult. I know they are pricey but your best bet is buying one of those kits I showed you. Do you plan on putting the fixtures inside the tank or on a screen?

I'm going to put the fixtures under the screen if possible and I'll look at the kits

A 12% will do inside with high enough decor. If it was on a screen 30% would be blocked and that distance wouldn’t get enough through. As far as the morph I’m not great with that but I can tell you she has the Hypo trait. If you look at the nails, a normal dragon without this trait has solid colored nails. Your dragon like my dragon has a clear side to the nails. Your dragon is definitely a hypo. Yellows, oranges and golds could be any of these or maybe more than one of these together:
Sunburst
citrus
tangerine
Sandfire
lemon
gold

If I had to guess I’d say a Lemon or sunburst maybe both.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
