Hmmmm....I put his hide back in and he immediately went in it and fell asleep.

He was actually out basking when I got up this morning. And he is all full of loose skin, and looking kind of dark, with spots on his belly. Stress, or normal for a waking, molting, dragon?

Just an update (sorry for keeping this as kind of a journal)....Draper had 35+ crickets in the past 2 days! I think he's warming up to the place. Still very sparse veg, mainly the sweet potato he ate the other day.
He seems to like to see the food drop from the sky.
I noticed this while misting him. I was dripping water on to a branch, and he was lapping it up. Some fell on to a rock below and he ran after it like it was alive. I started dripping water in to his bowl and he dunked he snout in and started full on drinking. He also did this yesterday during his bath, and I splashed water on to his back. Hopefully he learns that the bowl is a good source of water.
I tried dropping veg from the sky, he looked, but didn't go down to get any.

Probably the wrong section of the forum for this...but...
Regarding the IR heat guns. Don't they only measure surface temps? So, things like the color and material of the basking surface could greatly affect the reading of the temp.
I would think a 85-90f degree air temp under a basking lamp could cause a 100-110 surface temp, depending on color and material.

Draper had his best day yet! Eating like a champ now! 40-45 phoenix worms and crickets today!
Seem like the more we take him out of his enclosure, the more he likes us, and the more comfortable he feels.
He loves the phoenix worms....but wont eat them out of a bowl, he likes to chase them, although they aren't hard to catch.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
