New crossfire enclosure

So here are some pics of the construction of our new 4x2x2 viv. We had put one together a couple weeks ago but the guy at lowes who cut our wood cut it horribly wrong. So they gave us a fresh piece and we had my dad help us this time. It's not done yet, but the shell is. Tomorrow my dads gonna stain it and build the tracks for the glass sliding doors. Then ill it bring back home and make the fake rock and it'll be ready for move in! I'm so excited. So anyway here's some pics of my dad and my fiance putting it together.

what type of wood is that? Looks like plywood. What kind of plywood if it is plywood.

It's birch. I didn't want to use melamine cause that stuff chips and cracks so easily. Got it from Home Depot for 44.00 bucks for a 8x4 sheet. Then it's stained with dark walnut stain.

Looks great! I found the same Viv on-line here and asked my hubby to make it for Jango, my beardie. Mabie i'll do like you and see if he'll go with birch instead of the melamine.

Yes I would recommend against melamine, i have two snake racks made out of that stuff and they are all chipped up. :| The birch doesn't chip like that. Oak is good to I've heard. Finished pics coming in the next couple days!

that looks very nice. Are those 3/4" thick? or 2 layers of plywood?

I don't remember how thick it was, but the front is 2x4s cut down, nailed, and stained to match everything else. That's what makes it look really thick.
