So I've been feeding Ozzy '2nd Black Crickets' as my local store calls them since I got him about 2 weeks ago and his appetite has been good from the start, but all of a sudden it just sky rocketed.. he went from about 20 crickets a day to about 60-70 a day! This meant that I was going through one tub of crickets for 3.50 euro every 2 days. These crickets are small though, they're about half the width between his eyes. So today I went out and bought two tubs of '4th Silent Crickets' these guys are about twice the size of the black crix and a brownish color. They're are almost exactly the same size as the width between Ozzy's eyes with the exception of one or two that are HUGE. I just tossed one out my window that was the size (If not bigger) of Oz's head. I'm gut-loading these crix and going to feed him with them from now on, i'm really hoping to cut him down to 30-40 crickets a day. Do you guys think crickets these size are okay? If they're like 2mm over the width between his eyes can that cause serious harm?
I'd also like to add that should he still want to eat 70 odd crickets a day I'll just have to supply him with that many! I feed him till he's full, following the 10 mins as many as he'll eat guideline, so if thats what he eats, thats what he eats.. It just means a hell of a lot of walking to and from PetMania and a fortune on ugly little bugs lol. Well at least until he's big enough for the roaches. CANNOT WAIT TO START A ROACH COLONY.
Crickets really are the bane of any Beardie owners existence me thinks.
Anyway, no real point to this post.. I guess I should be studying (Beardeddragon.org eats my study time) so off I go.
:p

if you want to switch to roaches, buy them now. the only big enough question there is with roaches is if your colony is big enough to handle heavy feeding. Newborn nymphs are not too big for a hatchling. BUT it does take 4-6 months to get a colony going depending upon how many female adults you buy. So the sooner you get started the better.

In the meantime, order your crickets in bulk online. you will seriously save a fortune. pet stores charge 10 times more for crickets than online suppliers.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
