Hey guys. So my brother and I just got 2 used Companion Habitat Suncatcher cages for our pets and there seems to be a problem. The cages have 2 48 inch tube lights over each cage. I will be replacing one of each with the proper UV bulb.
There is a control unit underneath that runs heat, lights, and there is a blower control to circulate heat throughout the cage. But there is no actual heating element. I dont know how many of you are familiar with how these cages are designed but each section is on drawer slides. The lights are mounted to the frame of the housing and are stationary. There are no provisions for a heat/basking lamp and there is minimal room above each tank for a light fixture. I was thinking about using either Flexwatt or heater cable to give radiant/belly heat, but what can I do for basking? Has anyone worked with these cages before or modified them? As always, much appreciation.
