New Beardies

I am new to this forum and need some advice. I just recently expanded my family by 2 bearded dragons. "Baby" a 4 year old female we got Jan 14th, and "Otis" a 2 year old male we got today. Would love for them to be friends, any advace on the best way to possible introduce them, or am I better off keeping them seperate? :?: Right now they are in seperate 55 gallon setups side by side. As far as I know they have never been housed with any other dragon. Would hate for them to hurt each other, or be crazy stressed out by being with another dragon. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You can let them see each other outside the Vic's
With your super vision but inside they will breed unless thats what u want in that case can't help
U but u can only house female with female and sorry if a fight breaks out because when ever I tell someone that female and female works everyone gets mad but if u want proff call all the breeders u can find and they will tell try rio reptiles try capital dragons but
If u just want them to hang out
Do it with ur super Vision

After lurking around these forums for a while, I found out that a lot of the veteran dragon owners strongly recommend that you never let adults live together. Dragons are very dominant and would be happier to live alone.

As far as the OP's question goes: please keep them separated. Males, typically, are the more dominate ones and if paired with a female will over breed with the female and hurt her. Though there are instances where the female is more dominate, which in turn, ends up with the male getting hurt. All in all, the more dominant of the two will exert their dominance over the other through acts of aggression. Also just going to stress on the over breeding aspect of housing a male and female together. Bearded dragons are naturally solitary creatures so if housed together, it can (and most often times does) cause a lot of stress.

Sorry if I confused everyone, I am not housing them togther and was never intending to do so. I was just wondering the best way to introduce them so they might be able to hang out outside of there enclosures togther, supervised of course. Sorry if i freaked anyone out! LOL I knew putting them toghther would not be smart!

Not necessarily. Some beardies don't seem to care, but others will still try to tear each other apart, or mate when you have a m/f pair like in this case. I've seen a number of thread where owners have their male and female out at the same time, and they mate before anyone can stop them. Beardies can move pretty darn fast when they want to.

Zeus, if you don't know the answer, please don't give out advice that puts other people's beardies in harms way.

I would just put them together to see what happens, if one starts to get aggressive then separate them again. Just don't leave them unsupervised (as you already know )

After reading all the threads and posts and seeing the pictures of what happens when you let dragons around each other, I can only make one suggestion.

If you want a pet that co-habitates and plays nice together get a Ferret. My Toothless will never see another Dragon. But he has however seen my dog and got a glimpse of my sick ferret who was in his hospital cage on the floor.

two bearded dragon is a bad idea even with two females they can fight. in the wild the only reason they are togeher is to breed and dats it
then the daddy beardeddragon runs away. NEVER unsupervise where there is two bearded dragons together.

Thanks for all the advice, I guess my guys will just be friends from afar! I will take the safe route and not introduce them that way everyone is happy and safe!
