Hi

I got my first beardie on Friday and I am just wondering if he is behaving normal. He spends all his time in he's hide. Doesn't seem to be eating, or at least I haven't seen him eating.

I'm guessing he is just getting used to the new home but said I'd ask the question. I have thought about getting another beardie so that he/she has a buddy, guy in the pet shop said he wouldn't recommend it.

Congratulations on your beardie. I would love to see pictures of him. :) It is normal for lizards to refuse food after moving. Sometimes it can go several weeks. I wouldn't worry about it. Just leave him alone so he can adjust to his new home. :) Also make sure he has at least two hides (one on the cold side and one on the warm side) so he can hide and adjust his body temperature.

Bearded dragons are solitary animals, they don't need company. In fact they are better of by they own. If you are planning on another one they should be housed in different enclosures.

Do NOT house two beardies together...they can kill each other in a matter of seconds. They don't need playmates...that's what we are for LOL

I have 2 beardies...both in seperate tanks, even in seperate rooms!

Yes, it's normal for them to hide and not eat for a few days after they come home...relocation stress. Keep giving him/her a bowl of greens everyday, and live food (crickets) too. Mickey ( my baby) will have days where he eats 50 crickets in a few minutes, and some days he will only eat 10 crickets. He is shedding and growing, so I'm not worried.

Also, I keep the beardie pellet food in their tanks for them to much on. And, I do hear them a few times a day going over to the bowl and eating a few pellets. It certainly isn't their main food, but I think they enjoy the crunch of it.

Thanks guys, appreciate the assurance.

Ya, Jack is still hiding away in his hide. I've seen him eating at least one cricket now so I'm a little happier. I've seen some of the green pepper I put in disappear as well.

Now I'm not sure what's the best thing to do,

Leave him alone to get used to his Viv or

Keep checking on him let him get used to me being around.

Whenever he sees me he runs straight into hide and he won't leave if I'm in the room.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
