New Beardie Owner!

Hello all! My name is Annalee.

I'm new to the world of owning bearded dragons. I've done a lot of research in the last few weeks and I'm pleased to say that I'm picking up my first beardie tomorrow! I'm incredibly excited. He's a hypomelanistic male baby. He's gorgeous. I already have a name for him, Charmander.

Thanks all! I picked him up today and he's getting acclimated to his new home.

He was SUPER stressed out. He was so dark when I picked him up. The guy who I got him from had a camero and the engine was so loud. I'm sure the poor thing was majorly scared to death.

He's almost back to his regular color. How long should I leave him be before I start getting him used to me?
I'm supposed to just put my hand in the tank for a few minutes at a time to get him used to the idea of me and then I'm supposed to try to feed him by hand after a while so he realizes that I'm a source of food and friendly, right?

So not even hand in the cage? I didn't plan on trying to hold him or anything for a week or so.

He's been very docile surprisingly. I'd be pretty pissed if suddenly my old owner was gone and they moved me to a different place with a different person. No threats or snapping at my hand yet though. lol.

I just gave him his first bath with me as his owner. He did not seem to like that much. LOL

He did let me hold him without any squirming or threats after he was out of his cage. :] He's happily basking on the driftwood now, half asleep. What a cutie.

He's getting along with me extraordinarily well for it being his first full day home. I put a tank top of mine in the cage so he could get used to my scent. I left him alone for a while and when I came back, he was cuddled up in my tank top. Ha ha. So cute.
