New beardie owner can someone explain this?!

Maybe I’m being a lil paranoid.. maybe not, but this is concerning me. My beardie will “puff” at me and it sounds like a little compressed breathe of air. He will do this multiple times a day sometimes multiple times in a row. I just got him a couple days ago and he’s been doing it since. Is he just scared or being territorial? Im not exactly sure whether he has a RI or not but the head bobbing is completely normal, sometimes when i bathe my male beardie he'll climb up my arm and start head bobbing in a way to show me he doesnt want a bath... but i still make him take one at least once a week. You should take him to a specialist vet, make sure they know what their doing first just in case the noise is something to be concerned about. The only time my beardies have ever done that type of noise is when they get some sort of liquid down their throat that went into their lungs instead, when i gave them meds for pinworms, two of them didnt get it down right exactly but are entirely find now.

I was really hoping to avoid the vet since i spent a pretty penny on his whole setup.. i really hope it’s nothing serious i texted the previous owner and they said it was “normal” and that he’s fine. So idk ((. If you know anyone that might know what did wrong can you ask them to look at those videos because sometimes my threads seem to go unnoticed

If the person you got it from said its normal it must have had the problem since they got it probably, or they just dont care. You could call and see how much a vet check up would cost, but theres no escaping a vet in some cases. I'll see what some other people think about the videos but im not sure if they will have a definite answer.

Yeah that’s true i just hope everything’s alright I’m already in love with this lil guy. Previous owners seemed to care about him and knew a lil bit about beardies in general. Cage setup was iffy because of the uv bulb they had on top of the tank “ believe it was a t8 18 inch” i recently moved it inside the cage until i can get a t5. I’m also moving houses so moneys a bit tight but like you said no way to avoid it. Previous owners will be notified if something is wrong and maybe will compensate. I really appreciate you taking the time to help. Let me know if you can possibly find out more

Hi there, he's a bit stressed out in his new home, just give him time to settle in. That doesn't look like anything to worry about at all, my own dragons will do that if they are a bit nervous or I'm taking them outside or something.

The baths are not going to help and will actually chill him. Unless he drinks or is dirty [ like from stepping in poo ] then don't bathe him. Offer water once a week by dripping on his snout, if he's thirsty he'll lap it up.

No need to stress him with a vet visit, just let him settle in. His whole world has changed !

Thank you so much !!! I figured it was stress induced because it would usually only happen when I took him out. I really appreciate all the help, honestly i don’t know what i would do without this site ?
