And if her temp. is that low with the CHE on, you can cover part of the tank with a heavy towel or small blanket, just be careful it's not too close to the CHE. A healthy baby could be fine at 62 but since she's not well it's better to have it warmer for her.
Do we think this is a sign? I removed the mesh and placed her on the top... she sprouted up as far as she can. I’ve had her there now for about an hour and she has popped up farther and farther.
Well, after getting the correct lighting set up, adding calcium D3 to her, seeing. Reptile vet, and her getting fluids and an enema for a severe spinal impaction and bone loss. They don’t think she is going to make it. They said if she does she will probably have severe deforamaties due to the lack of lighting and we don’t know if she ever had lights on her before we got her etc. she has never ate greens for me, so we don’t know if she was ever getting but D3 before we got her, they gave her a calcitonin shot, but they think it’s too late. Her bones are just rubber. She just goes limp in your hand and can’t even hold her own body weight or head up any longer. She is in respiratory distress and they said her HR was elevated because she was so dehydrated. Even though I was doing everything I could do on my part from home as a nurse that I could.
Having just gone through the death of my father I am having a seriously hard time. So we went and picked out a new one from a great local store here in St. Paul that cane highly recommend by my husbands work. After going and checking out the reviews, the store, and the reptiles last night for three hours and asking tons of questions. I feel confident. They do their own breeding. They have the reptiles there. We know the owners and manager. It’s her whole life. She lives for the place. Goes there at night and sleeps when clutches are hatching, etc. water and food was in every dish and they have over 500 reptiles. They have one clutch of citrus dragons nfs yet, but she let me have pick of them. Which I thought was nice. So I picked mine and they marked it and now I have to wait and I’m hoping that since I picked one Khalessi will get better and things will reverse. I’ve seen videos and read that it can with the better lighting and dosing of calcium. So hopefully I’ll need to buy another tank... if not, the death of her won’t be so hard to take since it’s so scary since my father 6 weeks ago which was why we bought her for me. So everyone please cross your fingers and send along any and all suggestions. I stopped all bugs and am making her eat baby food and or greens. She will not touch greens and eats very little amounts of baby food. Any suggestions for this would be helpful. She will take bathes with 1/2 pedialyte which is helpful, but this is when she has her “blackout” episodes where she stops breathing for almost 10 minutes and turns black in places then starts gasping for air. It’s very scary. The vet says she probably almost dies because of the stress, but needs those baths or she will die from dehydration, and she needs 2-3 a day because she’s not eating anything and hasn’t eaten since last week Tuesday now.
Has anyone had experience with reversal of the rubbery bone loss or paralysis? I would love to hear your story? I need some hope here. I’m trying to be as optimistic as I can be. I feel like I did something wrong, but I know I didn’t. I bought the starter kit that zoomed provides, and they should provide better lighting, and bit D3 in their kit, and no sand and provide their kits at a maybe higher cost. I still would have bought it.
