New Beardie Barely Basks

Hello! A little over a week ago I bought my new beardie, Alphonse, and I absolutely love him. He's worrying me a bit however. He's 4 months old, and about 8.5 inches long. He's in a 4x2x2 with perfect basking temps/cool side temps, and a 2 foot Reptisun 10.0 on his basking/warm side. He's worrying me because he barely ever basks. In the mornings he won't come out of his hide for hours (I did just remove it for that reason) and will only bask for 30 minutes max. He spends 90% of his time sitting on a log on his cool side (this exact spot measures 88 degrees with a temp gun). He eats fine however, and is pooping once a day. The part that makes me think something is wrong is the fact that when he sits in that spot all day, he has stress marks. These stress marks go away when he's basking though.. Any thoughts..?

The baby may just not like what he is basking on, or has a preference to the side. Maybe try switching the basking area to the log he sits on? I have noticed my little guy (7") does not like basking on a log that I bought for him, as he got stressed when I tried moving the bulb to there. After moving it back he mellowed out.
