I will be getting my new dragon next week. I have never had one, but my daughter and her husband has 2 that I spend time with when I visit them. I have read a lot about them, but I am confused on the lighting thing. It seems to me they need 3 different lights? Can someone explain the different lights and what I will need. The baby will be about a month old, already eating good.

Welcome to the site.

As for lighting they basicly need two lights. A bulb that emits white light and high heat, 105-110 at the basking area. And a bulb that emits uvb. Reptisun 10.0 is the bulb for the job.

Thank you both. Thanks for the information on the lighting. I was really confused with it. I will be getting my little guy/girl within a week or so. I don't care if its a girl or boy , I just want one. I saw them a couple weeks ago and got a lot of information from the breeder. I guess I will be on here for any problems I have and hopefully will have pics of it in a month or two. thanks again, Becky

I won't be getting my baby for a couple more weeks, the breeder wants them to grow a little more. So it should be about 6 weeks old when it comes home. I still have to get the lights some stuff for its cage and so on. Still gives me more time to read more about them. Becky

I actually have 4 bulbs in my viv..lol..
I have one for the basking (hot) side
my UVB bulb in the middle
I have a CHE ceramic heat emitter for night time to make sure the temp stays above 65 ( you don't have to have one of these if ur temp stays above 65) this also take the place of some of the colored lights u see
Then on the cool side I actually have a houshold bulb to regulate the temp on the b/c it was too cool.. But keep in mind my viv is 4x2x2

I keep my place at 70 degrees all the time, so I should have the basking light and uvb bulb and that should work ok then? I think I am getting all of this down for my baby. Thanks for all the information. Becky

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
