I have had my Petey Poppers for about a week now. We got him from the pet store, from charts I've seen I think he is about 4 months old. I've researched everything online and I have everything right lighting and food wise and what not.
For the past few days he has been acting crazy, climbing all over the tank and rubbing on things, then I realised he was having his first shed! It was easy to figure out since he is stained orange from the sand that the pet store was using as a substrate. So, I bumped the humidity up to 40% with a bowl of water and misting sprays. I have given him one bath and I have been misting him twice a day. He has shed all of his skin except for his tail. He has calmed down a bit. He keeps soaking his tail in the dish of water so I'm pretty sure he wants it off, but it isn't going anywhere.
Is his behavior normal? I know they don't eat as much if they are shedding. But he is climbing all over the place and pawing at the glass and he didn't do that when he first came home. So...I was just wondering if this is normal for when they shed.
