My 16 week old bearded Dragon names Lady Lizard (formerly Toothless when we thought she was a he) has been diagnosed with Parasites. To be specific coccidia, Pinworms Oxyurid, and glagellates. Been given Ponazuril, Pamacur, and Flagyl. She took them yesterday at the vets office fine and ate well later in the evening. She ate fine today but after attempting to give her her second dose she passed out and didnt eat much after 4 pm. Shes a great eater and very healthy despite the diagnosis. Ive cleaned everything in bleach and washed her subtrate in bleach too.

I don't know what the best thing to do with all the information thats out there. Any suggestions?

If you use bleach please be sure to get it all out of the Viv before returning her inside. You should smell no chemicals before returning her.

That's a heavy load of medication. Sounds like she's definitely feeling the side effects. I strongly recommend getting her a good probiotic and giving her a dose everyday while she's taking treatment. Also keep her well hyderated by offering water more frequently and give baths at least every other day. Many dragons get a little sick while taking medication. It's usually nothing to worry too much about as long as they are still eating and pooping regularly. The probiotic will restore her good gut flora and most likely help her to feel much better

Is this medication serious. Should I worry. How should I handle her terrarium and cleaning it? Thank you for all the info!!!

Hello,

That is quite a few meds. What is the frequency of each one of them being given?
The Ponazuril is an anticoccidial medication & really only needs to be given 2-3 times as it wipes it out pretty quickly. This is a fairly mild medication, also.
The Panacur can be given in lower frequency, too 3 treatments, sometimes more for worms. It depends on the levels, really. This medication rarely has any side effects.
The Flagyl is a little hard on their system & is for flagelletes & amoebas. It is usually given for up to 14 days.
I agree, a probiotic would be a good idea to help her out while on meds right now.

Let us know how she is doing.

Meds and dosage:
She's on day 3 and she seems to be fine.

The metronidazole she takes .0.09 ml by mouth every 24 hours for 5 days
The Panacur 0.05 ml for 3 days wait 14 then repeat another 3 days every 24 hours
The ponazuril 0.01 every 24 hours for 2 days then wait 7 then administer for another 2 days.

Where do I buy the probiotics? Should I be feeding her anything in particular. Been giving her mustard greens, squash, Dubai roaches and Phoenix worms. Anything I should avoid or add while she's medicated?

Hello,

Sorry I missed your response!
Those doses do look pretty low, so they should be ok, assuming the solution is acceptable. Since she seems to be doing well, that is a good sign. If she wasn't, I could double check doses for you.
You can get probiotics at most health food stores. You can get non dairy acidiophiliz, or non dairy soy yogurt plain or flavored at the health food store or the grocery store.
Her diet sounds perfectly fine. There aren't any foods to avoid with her being on medications. Just the regular greens & insects you are feeding are great.

I hope she continues to do well now. Let us know how she is doing.

She didn't have any symptoms with any of her meds. Do you think they were strong enough? Thanks for the info!!!

Symptoms with her meds? Confused on that one....
If your meaning side effects, that's great. Don't change any of the med dosages. Keep them as your vet intended.

You really don't want to see side effects. Though it happens in a lot of dragons and can usually be managed with proper care, it can be a sign that the dragon is taking too much and his/her system is being overdosed. The fact that your seeing no issues is a great thing.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
