new background confusing bearded dragon

[Baby Gonzo]

I finally got Gonzo some desert background for his tank and it seems to be confusing him a little bit. Every so often I will look over and see him climbing up the side of the glass trying to go into the "desert" in the background. He's not obsessive about it but a couple of times a day he will do this. He's not at risk at all to hurt himself by running into the glass or jumping into it, I am just curious if others had noticed this problem when they put background on a tank and how long it took for their dragons to get used to it.

my 5 month old did that too.. but he would run into it... and try and jump up on the rocks in the picture...i didnt like i dont want him to hurt himself....he still did it till i took him out of his cage and put him into a firecross enclosure. But i wanna get a background for it so i think im going to go with the jungle on this time.....but yeah i think it happens to alot of them....

I've changed my beardies background quite a few times over the years and yes she has always tried to get into them. It only lasted a few days and then she smartened up..lol
