New baby- He's here!!

The waiting game is HORRIBLE!! When Scarlett arrived my boyfriend was at home and I had to work and it was about to drive me insane! She was our first beardie and I had done a TON of research and knew everything and he only knew what I constantly drilled him on..lol Next time i will take a vacation day.. ha ha

OMG! He's precious!!! Look at those colors! Now that he's had a while to warm up has he eaten yet?? I like the name Jupiter cuz he's outta this world! :wink:

He is outta this world and so neat feeling, I can't wait until I can play with him some more. He's not eaten yet, he is still really freaked out but he has eyeballed the roaches a bit.

Congrats again! He really is a beauty!! I really like the name you've given him to. Very different, but it does seem to fit him. How big is he?

He is around 9" or so, I'll get length and weight tomorrow.

He's doing good, ate quite a few dubia a couple hours ago. He is still a bit skittish but seems to like to be held and is very curious.

Beardies are shipped???? IN a Box??? no way!!! the post office delivers them??? I'm shocked!! How do they go so long without heat??

A lot of breeders won't ship if it gets to cold outside (I think anything below 40°). When they are shipped in cooler weather the breeder will normally insulate the boxes and will use heatpacks and when it's warmer out they'll put cooling packs in the box. Shipping is always (at least that I'm aware of) done as an overnight ship. I was kind of shocked to learn about it at first too, but my boy was shipped to me and he did just fine.

Jupiter came UPS overnight in a insulated box with heat packs.

wow - that's cool - I guess they probably just sleep the whole time anyway - I live in Michigan so I guess I just never thought of it because (hopefully) one would never be shipped here this time of year!!

I got my babies on "accident" - rescued. I have been wanting one for 4-5 years now but was waiting because I didn't feel like I could it yet - some things are just meant to happen I guess ($1400 later... )

and Jupiter is a very cute name for a cute baby!!
