Hello!
I just got a new baby bearded dragon yesterday! I am so excited to have him. Unfortunately, since I got him he has barely eaten and i'm really nervous. He also was shedding a little under the neck yesterday and it has fallen off since. I thought he wasn't eating due to shedding but it fell off last night and he has hardly eaten at all today too. Am i being a worrywart and does he just need to adjust or should i be concerned? Plz help! Thank you!!!

Hi there, yes it is probably the usual relocation stress, which can be stressful to us owners. :) What's his name ? But just to be sure everything is in order, can you list the exact type = brand of lights you have and post pics of the baby + tank set up ? Here's how :

Hi AHBD thanks for the reply! His name is Mylo! I use a 100W Zoo Med repti basking spot bulb and a Exo Terra 13W Reptile UVB lightbulb. He has reptile carpet covering most of the tank and paper towel too, as well as a hiding area and basking rock. I keep greens and commercial baby bearded dragon food in there as well as trying to give live crickets and small superworms but no interest yet. Thanks for the reply :)

IU see the little cutie there on the rock. :) What are you feeding him BTW ? A few things to try, Take a few of the crickets [ be SURE they are smaller than the space between his eyes ] and put them in a jar with a pinch of calcium powder. Shake the jar until the crix are dizzy + slow. Drop them right near the baby, 2-3 at a time . This usually works. Repeat until he's won't eat any more.

Skip the superworms, babies can become impacted and/or get fussy and not eat other foods.

Your uvb bulb Exoterra 13W is not strong enough to reach down in the tank, and the uvb needs to be close to where Milo is basking, not on the oter side. You are better off with a Reptisun 10.0 t5 long tube flourescent strip bulb.

One more thing, your set up + decor looks good but add a long climbing stick that can be propped up from one end to the other. Babies love to climb ! :) I get my sticks + driftwood from outside, pop it in a preheated oven at 250F for 45 minutes to kill any potential pests [ there usually aren't any ] So you have free cage furniture that way. Here's a pic of how I used to set up my hatchlings.

You can just use one stick to lay from one end of the tank + propped up higher near the basking + uvb bulb. Don't use pine or type of branch that is producing any sap.

Thank you so much for all your help! I am going to the store now and will get a new long light. I think the crickets I have now might be too big so I will make sure to get small ones! Thanks again for your help I feel much better now :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
