Obviously my name is Bruce.
I recently, ( a couple months) bought a Bearded.
Before buying him/her I did the research on tanks, feeding and care.
I built the tank, its 48" X 18 X 18, the inside is finished in a white fire resistant paneling to make it water tight and easy to clean. On top is a heat lamp and a UV lamp. on one end I have it built up with flat stone surrounding a "pool" with a waterfall in it. A lot of articles said the bearded likes to swim and will recognize water easier if it is moving. Seems to be working.
The other end is his hollow log to hide under, a climbing branch and an ugly ceramic thing that my daughter insisted be included ( He seems to like climbing the ugly ceramic thing)
For feeding I follow the internet information as far as the produce goes and I only give him Wax worms, maybe 5 or 6 a day.
He seems to be very alert, He looks at me when I talk to him and rarely does that glass surfing thing I read about. Another thing is interesting is that he can see the TV through his cage, and I think by the way he follows things with his head, he is watching it.
Like clockwork around 9pm he goes under his log to sleep and stays there until I turn his lights back on.
The downfall is that I started feeding him the wax worms by hand, and now anytime I try to pick him up he thinks I have food and he bites me. If I dont have food he gets mad and does not want me to pick him up. Any ideas on how to make him social again would be appreciated.
