New 4 week old beardie not eating just sleeping

We purchased a new 4 week old from a reputable reptile/aquarium store. We put him in his terrariam and he wasn't overly active. Was sitting at the lowest point not basking with his eyes closed. I offered greens and put drops of water on his nose but nothing. He slept and woke this morning perkier but then resumed sleeping on sitting with his eyes closed. I keep trying to return him to his basking spot but he only stays for a few minutes and then jumps down near the bottom of the tank and closes his eyes.

I've given him a bath tonhysrate and even tried feeding him a slurry (just some drops on his nose)...he would touch tiny crickets or a very small silkworm I had. He's not basking and is just lying there. I've called the store and they said tonsee how he is in a day or two. I know moving and a new environment is stressful but I'm worried. They said see how he is over the next day or so and if he's the same bring him back. His UV is direct...his temp for his basking area was 103-104...so I added a component to raise it and it's almost 110. Thoughts?

Hi Charlotte.....it can be common for a new baby to not eat for a few days or so but they shouldn't seem so lethargic. Can you post pics of the baby as he's laying [ a full body pic ] also of his set up ? I think you've posted pics before, but here's how in case you haven't.

Was the baby active when you saw him in the store ? Were there other babies in the store , and did the owners breed them ? If not , ask where they got them and how long they had them.

The first picture is how he's been most of the time since yesterday afternoon when we got him. The second is just now. I put him on his basking spot and tried to give him a tiny silkworm. He actually ate it. Then I dropped a few drops of water on his nose. I just sprayed him gently with the bottle to attempt to keep him hydrated.

While he looks good in the second picture this is only the last five minutes. Then he'll crawl down and go sleep somewhere.

Unless the silkworm perked him up???

Yeah, he should be more active than that. Can you answer the other questions I posed ? That can help determine if it started before you got him.

This is his setup. Sorry my phone died. See he's already moved himself. Basking says 99...on my way to buy more silkworms and a higher platform to get the basking temp up.

There were four all together...the guy said he was active all afternoon. When I saw him he was on he basking platform hallway down and another beardie was lying half on him. I said to my son to pick the perkier or and the guy said him and one other were the healthiest and most active out of the lot of them. Not sure when they got them..

It was a reptile store not a breeder.

O.K, hopefully your little cutie perk up a bit....be sure that the silkworms are very small. When you go to the store, see what the other babies are doing and try to get a pic of them if you can.

And just to be sure that your lights are good, can you list what type + exact brand lights you are using ?

I just went to the store and 2 out of the 3 that are still there look the same!!!!! All lying on the ground lethargic and eyes closed!!!!!! I'm waiting to speak to the manager. The girl who works here just said one of them died, she tried to tell them and was ignored! I'm crazy mad now!!!!!

Aw, that's bad news ! Too bad for those babies, and I'm sorry for you as well. The babies must have some illness, possibly even atadenovirus. Do you think you'll keep it or take it back ? That's a really hard decision but if it's an option then you'll have to decide.

I hadn't to take him back....we just went through so much with our other one. If a couple in that litter had already does and a couple more were looking ill it's probably out of my control. I didn't want my son waking up to a dead pet. I tried syringe feeding but him and bathing him but nothing was helping. I spent $700 on our other beardie to nurse him back to health between vets and supplies. I couldn't go through that again. The emotional piece and the cost. I could have taken the one we own back as he got sick right away but I wanted to try. My anxiety was through the roof. If death is inevitable than what else could I do. They are quarantining them and have already put in a call to a herp vet.

I'm sorry Charlotte, I couldn't understend whether you took him back ? Your message is mixed up, auto correct might have done it or you might have been in a hurry. But if you re-read your last post you'll see that it's not clear if you took him in.

Yes....sorry. I just did. I was crying as I was typing. I just wish I could have done something. I know some people would have encouraged me to keep him and try something to get him well but the money I've spent on our other one...and we've only had him 8 weeks. The sibling in this litter weren't well clearly. My son is already traumatized by this. Waking up to a dead pet would have been terrible for him. I tried everything I could. He was so little to even go to a vet at that point. They can't jab him with needles and such. That would have been so sad. When the other girl who works there told me on the sly that two had already died and the rest are looking sickly I knew it was out of my hands.
