Need help with Reptiglo bulb, etc.

Hello all,

My new Beardie is Pippy. He's doing well, accept for the eye problems. When I bought him, I bought a Reptiglo 10 coil/compact bulb with a hood to accomidate this bulb. I now am going to make a trip to get a Reptisun 10. I keep seeing "tubes" on forums, no mention that, I can find, on coil/compact bulbs. Does Reptisun make a coil bulb to replace my Reptiglo with? Do I need to buy a new hood?

Coil UVB of any kind is not recommended for beardies. If you are looking for a new hood, you may be able to use a fluorescent fixture from Home Depot or some place similar.

Are the compact one's okay? The kind with a few tubes coming out of the base?

sorry, coil/compact lights are only good for making the enclosure brighter. Th coil/compact lights are not good for their eyes.

Please stay away from ALL coil and compact UVB's as they are very dangerous. Here's some info you can read: http://www.uvguide.co.uk/phototherapyphosphor.htm

Your beardie would be better off without any UVB for a few days rather than using that one you have now.
