Need help getting beardie to eat veggies.

Hello I have two baby bearded dragons. They were hatched on May 4th. I realize babies don't eat much vegetables / fruit and their diet is mainly crickets, but I want them to get used to the idea of eating something other than crickets at times. We usually blend up some kale and put some in front of them to see if they'll go for it, and as far as we know they lick it but don't eat it. After that we just leave it in the tank for a little while. Anyways, how do you ween your baby into eating a bit of veggies? I read they're supposed to get 20% of their diet from it, but thats definitely not happening. Any advice is appreciated Thanks!

Hi. They usually don't eat veggies when they are young. Just keep offering it everyday. Don't feed kale as a staple as it binds calcium. Here is a site most of us go buy beautifuldragons.com.

Thanks to whom ever posted ALL the people Who are also having this issue..good to Know that My Beardies ARE not the only Picking ones.. and that it's just mainly a baby thing..Good thing I have Birds and Hermit Crabs to help w/the cost of Veggies that the Beardies are wasting..LOL

Mine are good about EATING any moving critter We put in there: crickets, roaches, calci-worms (aka phoenix worms i think) and sometime waxworms..

i been trying alot different veggies all the time because he isnt interested in eating them. i have pellets and some chewy young bearded dragon food, he will eat those no problem! but veggies he isnt interested in. so far i have offered him escarole and buttnernut squash, he didnt care for those at all. i offered him mustard greens and sweet peppers. he ate a few mustard greens. he wasnt interested in the peppers. i have given him apples and strawberries. he would lick the strawberry, but thats all. apples he didnt even wanna touch. im going to now try dandelion greens and a different kind of squash. see if he likes them. i feel bad cause i work all day. so i can only feed him in the morning and then when im home at night. but before i leave in the morning after hes done with his breakfast, id like to leave him a plate of salad he can eat during the day. as of now he doesn't touch anything i leave. it can be just cause hes very young, i mean hes about 1 month old. very very young, but hey if he has no problem eating pellets and chewy food, why not salad as well?

Mine wont eat the pellets or the dehydrated stuff, (again good thing I have Hermit Crabs), so far the only thing we can get then to eat is Bugs..

Don't feed kale it's high in oxalates and binds calcium.
To answer your question you can leave it out for them, hand feed, wiggle it around, spray it with water, and just be persistent. My guy wouldn't eat veggies until he was a year old. I had to give him baby food to assure he got the vitamins. What I think got him though was the fact that the bowl I put his super worms in is green, because he never eats veggies that are any other color.
