My beardie usually goes to sleep as soon as his lights are off, but tonight's a different story. I turned his lights off at around 9:45 usual time and he went to be but soon after, he started shifting around until he finally was half laying on his carpet and half on his basking rock, wide awake. I picked him up and let him rest on my shoulder and he's been on and off sleeping and waking up, I've made him a comfy bed in a plastic tub (a large one used for packing) so when I go to bed he doesn't have to sleep where he isn't comfortable. I don't know what may have caused this, but I have two things in mind.
1. I was at my friends house until 3 and my sister forgot to turn his lights on, so he was without heat for a majority of the day.
2. I fed him a strawberry for the first time, chopped up in little pieces.
I'm very worried and I need advice.
We got him at the end of April and he was 4 months then so he's 7 months now, in a 20 gal for another two weeks or so. He has a 100 watt basking light and a 50 watt light on his cool side. He gets 15 crickets a day and a green of some sort and he poops once a day, sometimes twice. I dust his crickets with calcium.

He is probably just thrown off by the change in schedule. He should be OK if you just return him to his regular schedule. I suggest getting a timer to plug the lights into so the schedule is consistent and you don't have to worry about turning the lights on and off every day. Strawberry is fine as an occasional treat. I found that they sometimes like eating the green tops of strawberries too.

What are the temperatures on the basking surfaces of the enclosure? A 100w light should be plenty for a 20g tank. It's important to maintain a gradient across the tank so your dragon can self regulate his temperature. You'll want the basking surface on one side to be around 100-105 and on the cool side it should be 75-85 or so during the day.

His basking side stays around 95-100. I don't have a thermometer on his day side but it's definitely cooler than his basking side.

Thank you for your help!!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
