Need Help! ASAP!! *Update 11/08*

Is there anyone in or near Connecticut with power and an empty dragon set-up that can temporarily keep my dragon??? We were hit with a major snow storm that knocked out our power and it won't be back until Monday! I've been staying with a friend and the dragon (and my snake but she should be okay) is here but I couldn't bring his whole 75 gallon tank with me! He's been in a 10 gallon tank since Saturday with no lights, no heat. I've been bathing him in warm water daily and trying my best to keep him warm and comfortable. I thought it would only be a couple days though and that he'd be fine. Now that it's going to be more than a week I'm really scared I'm going to lose him. I'm almost in tears writing this. Please, someone help me!!

Also, I have no car. My husband is on the road with our Jeep. You'd need to pick him up. Begging for help! I'll do anything!!

Ugh I am so sorry you are going through this. If you have electricity, you really need to get heat on him if nothing else. Did you bring any light domes? If you could get a household bulb and rig up a make shift basking spot. Or you can get a bunch of handwarmers at walmart or a pharmacy/drugstore. He will be okay without uvb for the week, but you shouldn't deprive him of it for any longer than a week! Just try to keep him warm at all times until you find someone who can beardiesit. How old is he?

He's around 2 years old. I've been trying my best to keep him as warm as possible. He's right near the heater but not too near where it would burn him. I've been using handwarmers as well but I'm running low on them. All his lights at home are connected to his tank and not portable. I will see what I can do with the bulbs that are around... Thank you for a response. I've been stalking this thread hoping somebody would say something!!

If you can get to Home Depot or Walmart you can pick up a clip on dome light for ~$8. This would solve your heat problem

I wouldn't bathe him if you have no heat/light for him to dry off under. He could get chilled.

I hold him in a towel and have my friend use a blow dryer from a distance for warmth and to help dry. It's one of the few ways to keep him warm though without a light. :/

Also hand warmers are a great source of heat

Just make sure you aren't giving him any hard shelled feeders at this point. He needs heat to digest his foods, at least a temp of 95 degrees. So no feeders. It would be best if you could find some way to get a household bulb on him so he can stay warm. However, if you have tested him for parasites recently and he has been showing signs of brumation (he's 2 so he's old enough to brumate) then you can just put him in a shoe box or something with a little hole for him to fit through and let him brumate!

Bumping up!! Could still really use a sitter!! My hubs is home now so we might be able to work out something for transportation.

Luckily, he has been showing signs of brumation so I just haven't been feeding him. I'm scared of him not being able to digest his food.

Thank you everyone so much for your help and advice! I really appreciate it! Our power came back on Friday, went off and on 5 more times but it is finally staying on. Jayne is home and back in his tank and is very happy and seems no worse for wear. He's been eating and head bobbing. Next time a crisis like this happens, hopefully I will be a little better prepared.

i live in Miami, and we usually get hit with storms that knock our power out all the time, luckily, i have a generator, and i'd use it for the fridge and my baby before anything...
