I was just giving my beardie Boss his bath as I do twice a week and I fill up my sink and always just squirt some reptisafe in there, and tonight was no different in the amount I put in but he usually only drinks about once every 6 weeks or so. Tonight he took a 30-45 second non stop drink and was fine before he got in, was fine during the bath, did his usual poop and I took him out and set him on a towel on the floor while I cleaned the poop (whicj took less than a minute) and when I looked down at him he was holding his head high and it was almost like he was drunk, stumbling and running into stuff, and just looked really confused, then he started to nod out and I noticed liquid bubbling out of his one nostril, but then came the BLACKKK beard and he was having trouble breathing. Now he is just sitting here with his eyes closed, darker than one ever seem him and still has a black beard. The only thing I can think of is that I may have put too much reptisafe in the bath and because he took such a big drink. He was literally happy as can be, bright colored, ate his super worms and then got a bath. I always get the super worms from the same breeder so there is NOTHING different. I thought maybe he got water in his ears when he was drinking but hes never acted like this before. Hes my baby and theres no herp vets open, I just want to make him better and get some thoughts, advice, anything! Please help!

I will even put my # incase I can get some answers quicker. 609 864 1591

Hi Brooke....I'm sorry that Boss had this scary episode. I think that what may have happened is that he aspirated some water. I don't think the Reptisafe would cause that reaction unless there was an excessive amount in the water but it's possible. How is he doing now ?

I doubt that a product made for drinking water would be that easy to overdose on. Its more likely he aspirated some water. Try holding him with his head at a slight downward angle in case he has some water in his lungs.

Hello,

I agree. Also, try to keep him around 80 overnight in his tank to help boost his immune system, too in case he has to fight off a respiratory infection.
Aspirating water during a bath is relatively common. Let us know how he is doing.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
