I bought my son a baby beardy at petsmart on Christmas eve. since we got him he doesn't seem to eat and he sleeps a lot he will move around and crawl around on the couch. he will drink water. crickets seem to scare him and he doesn't seem interested in the salad type mixtures. he does sleep a lot . I made him eat some crickets and after that he still wont eat . he is in a 20 gal tank tempature under basking is 95 degrees humidity is at 20 . we now have a second one and she eats a lot and is very active . hope someone can help us out very soon thank you

Take a look at the articles to the right for some tips on your new dragons. There is a lot to know! He could be impacted (constipated) from a cricket that might have been too large. Also, your basking spot should be about 110 degrees f. He might still be getting used to his surroundings. Would you take some pics of their setup? Good luck :)

Heres how to do that

Hi. Are they housed together? What kinds of lights are you using? Brands? How are you taking the temps? 95 is to low basking area for babies on the basking spot needs to be around 105. If you are using a stck on thermometer those are very inaccurate. You need a temp gun or digital with a wire probe.

You can post them to your thread using the XIMG button. I agree with needing an accurate thermometer to reach 100-110 basking spot temps and a 75-80 cool side by raising/lowering the basking bulb. Two dragons should also be kept in separate enclosures so they don't start competing for resources, especially in such a small tank. Proper UVB exposure is critical as well. I suggest using an 18'' T8 ReptiSun 10.0 bulb in a Zilla Slimline fixture for best results.

It's likely a combination of issues including lighting and them competing for resources. I think Petco is still having their $1/gal sale so it's a good time to pick up a new tank. You may want to consider picking up two 40g breeder tanks ($40 each instead of $120 each) one for each of them. This will be big enough to last into adulthood. I'd pick up two Zilla Slimline fixtures (T8, 18'') and two ReptiSun 10.0 UVB tubes (T8, 18'') and some small command hooks (1lb rated). You can mount the fixtures by putting the command hooks through the holes in the back of the fixture to mount it just under the top of the tank. I'd also pick up another basking light to use in the second fixture (you won't need the coil UVB light anymore). If you don't have a digital thermometer I'd pick one up. An infrared temperature thermometer is probably a good bet because you can share it between two enclosures. Petco may have ZooMed ReptiTemp available which will do. An adjustable lamp stand to hang the fixtures with basking lights may be helpful for getting the right temperatures in the enclosures. Having their own space and proper lighting/heat should do wonders for their overall health. Even if you don't go for the two 40g breeder tanks now, I'd definitely get a second 20g tank and second setup along with the two UVB tubes for now.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
