I have had my Bearded dragon for a year+ and I have some questions. I am currently going to buy repti sun mini bulbs( http://www.bigappleherp.com/TWO-PACK-Reptisun-10-0-UVB-Mini-Compact-13W-ONLY-9-49-PER-BULB) are these ok or do I need the longer tube lights I have been using repti glo, which I found out just recently is bad for high output low range, and coils are bad for their eyes. I just need a over all for uvb bulbs/heat bulbs, calcium sand, foods , best calcium to use. Anything That could help lets just say a 1 year oldbearded dragon owner. Any help us very much .

Also my beardis name is Onyxia, she is approximately 16 2/3 inches, I have been using repti-glo coils for almost 5 months ,.and need to get her back on the correct system. Is she small for roughly 1year and the month year old Lol?

Welcome to BD.org!

Lets see, I don't like to use any compact UVB lighting I use a ZooMed ReptiSun 10.0 36" UVB http://www.bigappleherp.com/TWO-PACK-Reptisun-10-0-36-Bulbs-17-49-Per-Bulb-Thats-30-OFF like those. I try to make it so those UVB tube length to cover about 3/4 of the vivarium. (My vivarium is 4'x2'x2')

I'd take out the calcium sand too. Try to search here "Calcium Sand"

For food I use Dubia Roaches, Crickets, Mustard Greens and usually Dandelion Greens. For the live food I let the beardies eat as much as they can in about 10mins or till they don't want to eat anymore. Then I give them a quick luke warm water for a bath. For the greens I just put a handful in their little food dish in the morning. For young beardies you want 80% protein(live food) and 20% greens then switch it when they are adults so 80% greens 20% protein.

I've use these are the supplements.
Week 1: Calcium without D3 6 days a week, 7th day Calcium with D3.
Week 2: Calcium without D3 6 days a week, 7th day Multi-Vitamin with D3.
Then back to week 1.

I've noticed a lot of the beardies grow differently, genetics, environment, food, male/female, ect. Mine is almost a year old (he's 11 months) at about 17 1/2"

Welcome to the forum! Justin is spot-on with his advice on the lights and the sand. My supplementation schedule is a bit different. I use the same lights as you will be using, and 5x per week is calcium with D3, 2 days multivitamin-1 feeding per day for the calcium and the vitamins. If you follow a different schedule, watch for for off-colored urates. That is a sign of over-supplementation.

Here is a great link for foods you can give your dragon:

Hornworms!

You definitely want a light long enough to span at least half to three quarters the length of the cage so that your dragon can get some exposure no matter where it decides to lounge.

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
